Description
Sexual contact between and adult and a minor is a serious crime. Even though the actions of the individual perpetrator may result in civil damages in a lawsuit, that person is not insurable. such actions are not insurable. However, the businesses or institutions. that employ them or for whom they provide paid or voluntary services may become vicariously liable for their actions.
In addition, property owners may have a certain legal duty of care for injuries that occur on their premises. Over the last 25 years multimillion dollar judgements have been rendered against religious institutions, youth organizations, schools and businesses. In response to these instances, the insurance industry has chosen to exclude coverage in most general liability and professional policies. However, in recent years some special lines companies have developed Sexual Abuse and Molestation coverage either as an endorsement or a stand-alone policy.
